Record of a spaceborn few review7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() This also made it a little hard to bond with all the different characters and to hold on to one specific narrative anchor. ![]() The familiarity just wasn’t there yet, and it was more difficult and took more time to establish as the book hops between the different characters’ perspectives from chapter to chapter, which was especially challenging whenever the chapters were on the shorter side. The book sets up and follows 5 different central characters, all of which live and operate within their own distinctive bubbles in the beginning, it’s a little confusing, mostly because I had trouble keeping up with everyone’s different backgrounds, the people in their lives, where everybody is at, and what their narratives each serve. The relative “slice-of-life” nature of the Wayfarers series continues with its third entry, Record of a Spaceborn Few, and this time around, zooms in on and explores different, exclusively human characters, their stories, embedment into and relation to Exodan culture (a particular set of human culture with its own traditions, philosophies, politics, etc., that has been established in the series early on), and their at least somewhat interwoven paths. ![]()
